History of Palawan
Palawan has a rich historical background dated back thousands of years. Often known as “The Best Island in the World”, which has been inhabited during the Stone Age with some of the ancient archaeological sites and artefacts from ancient indigenous cultures. Dr. Robert Fox an eminent researcher who found human evidence and stuff which belongs to the dated back to 50,000 years ago and they came to the conclusion that Tagbanua and Batak are 2 major indigenous communities that lived here for centuries. Evidence shows us Tagbanua and Palawan people are earlier settlers in this province and those who also created local governments, barter systems and trading and merchant systems of their own. During 500 AD these indigenous people existed and researches proved through murals and some burials that these tribes are the prime people who lived thousand years ago.
From 220 to 263 AD, little migration took place. Chinese settlers started heading to Palawan and other regions of Thailand, Sumatra and Boreno too. This too we can experience in ancient Chinese pottery and artefacts depicted in the caves and water bodies of the province.
Around the 12th century another group of people started migrating toPalawan, Malaya. These Malaya people are more advanced and brilliant at pottery techniques and agricultural activities. They introduced more modern buildings and farming techniques to the Palawan region.
Later Spanish explorers started to enter Palawan, the northern Calamian region is the first island where Spanish took control over the region. During the 17th century a number of Spanish origins like Monks and sailors started to reach the island to make trading, religious activities and educate locals. In 1749, King Brunei handed over the southern Palwan to the Spanish peoples. In 1901, Palawan was officially declared as the Province and region witnessing good numbers of development works and renowned as the major tourist destination recognised for its rich and vibrant biodiversity and cultural heritages.

Wet Season starts from June and lasts till October. Wet or Rainy seasons usually encounter more rainfalls and evening thunderstorms, especially during September months. Despite these 2 seasons, temperature here in Palawan ranges between 24℃ to 29℃. So, visitors may get much experience of chilly atmospheres in early morning and nighttime. Every year the Philippines receives the Northeast Monsoon from November to February and the Southwest Monsoon from July to September.
